Religious Services and Cultural CeremoniesOn Monday, May 25, 2020, the California Department of Public Health announced the statewide reopening of places of worship for religious services. These organizations can reopen in Monterey County, if they meet the State of California’s criteria. Under the new guidance, places of worship can hold religious services and funerals that limit attendance to 25% of a building’s capacity or up to 100 attendees, which ever is lower.

Charter Boat ServicesCharter Boat operators may begin operating effective June 12, 2020, subject to the requirements set forth in the Monterey County Health Officer Orders, and subject to any additional requirements set forth in guidance by the County Health Officer, the Governor of California, and State Health Officer.

Monterey and Salinas Animal ServicesEffective April 1st and until further notice, all animals found within the City limits of Salinas and Marina will be temporarily housed at Monterey County Animal Services located at 160 Hitchcock Road in Salinas, which is next door to the current Salinas Animal Shelter. Monterey-Salinas Transit Effective March 28, 2020, MST Services will be suspended during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
MST Service SuspensionEffective Wednesday, 3/18/20, the
Monterey-Salinas Transit will waive passenger fares on all services to include the RIDES ADA Paratransit service. Also, Coach Operators shall initiate rear-door loading and unloading procedures on all coaches that are so equipped, (Exceptions include passengers boarding with mobility aids and those who request the use of the ramp to board the service). This MST directive shall become effective at 12:01 AM Wednesday, 3/18/2020, and shall remain in effect until 11:59 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2020. All additional costs and lost fare revenues related to this emergency shall be tracked and used to seek reimbursement from any federal, state or local funding sources that may emerge.

Monterey Bay AquariumGolf CourseConsistent with the revised version of the Monterey County Shelter in Place Order, and with social distancing protocols required for play, the Pacific Grove Golf Links has announced that they will be open starting this Monday, May 4. They will be accepting requests for Monday tee times starting tomorrow, Saturday, May 2.

Why Soap Works!
It is recommended that high-risk individuals avoid mass gatherings where large numbers of people are within arm’s length of one another. Here are preventive actions you can use to protect yourself and those within your community to slow the spread of respiratory viruses.
Cover Coughs and Sneezes
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue, handkerchief, or sleeve.
- If you sneeze into a tissue, throw it away immediately and wash your hands with soap and warm water.
- Avoid coughing or sneezing into your hand. If you do, wash your hands immediately for a minimum of 20 seconds.
Clean Hands and Surfaces Regularly
- Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your face specifically your nose, mouth, and eyes.
- Avoid shaking hands.
- Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as doorknobs, tabletops, counters, phones, keyboards, and light switches.
Stay Home When Sick
- Stay home and away from others when you are feeling unwell.
- If you have a cold, flu, or other viruses, you can prevent the spread of germs by wearing a mask.
- If you have symptoms like cough, fever, or other respiratory problems, contact your doctor first before going in.

Price Gouging:
It is illegal to raise the price of food, medical supplies, housing, fuel, or other essentials more than 10% during a state of emergency. If you have witnessed price gouging, make a report with the Office of Attorney General at oag.ca.gov/report or by calling 800-952-5225. You can also contact your local police department. For more information on the California Law prohibiting price gouging visit Ca Penal Code 396.
